The German-made
Omega Xenon HID Ballasts are designed
to provide optimal lighting performance for your lighting kit. The ballasts
also help to reduce energy costs in a huge way. Essentially their function is
to regulate the flow of current to the lamp, to produce a continuous and uninterrupted
high intensity beam. HID light kits
are much more long lasting than regular halogen lamps. This is because of the
presence of the ballasts, which greatly add to the efficiency of the light kit
and add to its durability.
HID Ballast - an indispensable component of HID light kits
High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting
technology replaces the filament of the light bulb with a capsule of gas.
The light is emitted from an arc discharge between two closely spaced electrodes hermetically sealed
inside a small quartz capsule. To operate correctly, they need ballast, which supply the required
voltage and control current. A higher amount of streaming light is produced as compared to a regular
halogen bulb. The amount of light produced is greater than a standard halogen bulb,
it consumes less power, and more closely reaches the color temperature of natural daylight.
Ballasts cannot
be interchanged among different types of HID
lamps. A ballast design involves a lot of electronic circuitry to provide
specific lamp or ballast operating characteristics. For example, the effects
of line voltage variations on resultant changes of lamp wattage are a function
of the ballast circuit design. Requirements for a circuit which provides a finer
degree of lamp regulation generally result in a higher ballast cost. The cost
of ballasts is generally based on the degree or fineness of lamp regulation
that the circuit provides. So get performance-efficient HID
